Music and sport come together at the Alley

This month volunteers from the world of music and sport have join forces to produce a wonderful night of entertainment at the Alley Theatre, Strabane, with all of the proceeds from the show going towards a charity helping diagnose young people with potentially life threatening heart problems.

The perfect combination of the Tyrone All-Ireland winning team and CRAIC, the North West's leading trad group, will mean lucky North West Alley patrons will have a night to remember on Friday, November 14.

This groundbreaking charity show at the Alley will offer a night of fantastic Irish music on offer from CRAIC and the chance to win a signed Tyrone shirt, with all proceeds on the night going to CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). The Tyrone team have been touched by the hard work of this CRAIC and CRY, so have kindly donated a signed shirt which will be raffled on the night to patrons attending the show.

"The show will have everything you can imagine for a great night out," stated Mark Diver from CRAIC. "The evening will be packed with great music performed by some of the best musicians from across the North West and singers from Strabane Gaelscoil, local traditional dancers and the odd joke from the compere.

"The evening will also feature a Polish exhibition launch at the start of the evening (7pm), which everyone is invited to attend, with free Polish food and drink to sample. The music will start at 8pm and the evening will be rounded off with one lucky participant walking away with a signed Tyrone top, which has been kindly donated by the Tyrone County Board. Every penny patrons spend on the night will go directly to CRY."

CRY representative in Northern Ireland is John Lundy, whose son Aaron died suddenly from a heart condition in 1999. He said, "We are delighted that CRAIC is hosting this event to raise awareness of the importance of cardiac Ssreening and to raise valuable funds which will go towards the Northern Ireland CRY screening programme.

"The response of people locally has been very humbling. Our goal is to make everyone aware of the importance of cardiac screening and the opportunity that exists at the clinic at Jordanstown to have young people screened. Eight apparently healthy people die each week due to undiagnosed heart conditions in the UK, money from this night will hopefully reduced that figure and raise awareness."

Tickets for CRAIC's fundraising show are now on sale at only £5 and are available by calling the Alley Theatre box office on 028 7138 4444 or book online at www.alley-theatre.com
