Camogie


The first round of the Ulster Junior County Camogie Championship was held last weekend with Tyrone travelling to Cavan for a 1pm start.

Tyrone played with a strong breeze in the first half but they failed to take advantage not scoring until the 24th minute with a goal from Grainne O'Neill followed by another goal a minute later from Clare Cahoon.

Aishing Corr Captain for the day closed the first half with a point before the whistle. Tyrone 2-1 Cavan 0-1.

Cavan playing with the strone breeze, dominated the second half with a quick goal and three points in the first 16 minutes. Tyrone held well for the rest of the match but unfortunatly in injury time Cavan scored the winning point. Final score Cavan 1-5 Tyrone 2-1

Tyrone team: Deirdre Fitzgerald, Connie Cahoon, Michelle Fitzgearld, Kathleen McKee, Denise Daly, Maeve McKearney, Mairead McGuckin, Aishing Corr 0-1, Susan McCann Maria Jordan,Julie Lagan, Grainne O'Neill 1-0, Leanne Daly Maryrose McGready,Clare Cahoon 1-0.

Tyrone were under-strength with key players unavailable to play due to holiday committments but the county board would like to thank the players and supporters who braved the wintery conditions on mothers day to play and support the county.
