Tickets cost just £5 each and these are available from the Alzheimer's Society office, telephone 82 240826 or you can pay at the door on the night. All proceeds will go to your local Alzheimer's Society Omagh Branch to assist people with dementia, their families and carers.
In Northern Ireland there are almost 20,000 people living with dementia at the present time and Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. Caring for someone with dementia can be emotionally and physically draining, particularly where the carer has no support and does not know where to go for help.
The Alzheimer's Society exists to respond to the questions and concerns of anyone whose life has been touched by dementia. For more information you can contact us on 02882 240826.
Come along to the concert to support your local branch, and enjoy a great night's craic with friends.
Omagh Floral Art Club
'SEASONAL Delights' was the subject at the meeting of the Floral Art Club on March 20. Ross McGookin, from Ahoghill, an experienced talented and entertaining flower arranger and demonstrator, delighted everyone with her original arrangements using a great variety of seasonal foliage, twigs and branches from both garden and hedgerow.
Among her creations was one containing twigs of a broken hawthorn branch interwoven to make a wreath. Decorating this were white eggshells each with a small flower and Hellebores and white Tulips in the centre supported by the twigs.
Mrs McGookin demonstrated the use of pretty woven baskets holding mixed bunches of flowers and viburnum - a suggestion for gifts. A lesson in folding and pinning Aspidistra leaves was followed by using them as a centrepiece with tulips and roses.
A large horizontal piece of driftwood was the basis of a stunning arrangemnet, which cleverly incorporated the wood into many types and colours of foliage and leaves. Pale pink Gerbera and two magnificent stems of orchid completed the arrangement.
Winners of the competition for club members were Milton Porter, Kathleen Moss and Catherine Johnston.
Violet LIttle, chairperson, closed the meeting reminding all present of the next meeting to be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 7.30pm when the demonstrator will be Collette Maguire.
