RDUH- Omagh notes

Street collection

THE Glenard Animal Rehousing Centre held a street collection in Omagh on Saturday last and raised £620. The group is grateful to all who responded to the fundraising drive.

Book signing by poet

THE author of Amber Roses, a book of poetry which was published recently, will be in Omagh on Saturday for a book signing. Patrick Gormley will be at the Carlisle Bookshop at High Street from 12.30 pm – 2pm.

Arthritis Care

A MEETING of Arthritis Care will take place in Hillbank Fold on Thursday, September 20 at 8pm. A talk will be given on Gentle Armchair Exercises. Everyone warmly welcome.

Charity Concert - A grand charity concert in aid of Arthritis Care will take place on Wednesday, September 19 in Newtownstewart 2000 Centre.

Door open from 7.15pm, concerts starts at 8pm. Tickets £10. Contact Maura 82243755 or Betty 82235362.

The Blind Centre

WOMEN'S Group: Are you blind or visually impaired? Are you interested in being part of a womens' group? The group meets every Wednesday 10.30-1pm in the Blind Centre, 10 James Street, Omagh. The following activities are available: beauty treatments, alternative therapies, meditation, lunch, shopping, light exercise, self-improvement, angel therapy, crystals, lively conversation and good company.

If you are interested or know anyone who is please contact Sharon on 028 8225 0220 for further details.

Out and about activities: The RNIB and the Blind Centre offers assisted shopping every fortnight for people with sight loss. A great opportunity to meet up for coffee with others, go to the Monday market, visit Dunnes, Asda, or Marks & Spencers at the showgrounds. Maybe stop for lunch. The choice is yours. We can organise transport through the Door-to-Door Service or you can make your own way.

The dates for these activities in the months of September and October are: Monday, September 17; Monday October 1, 15 and 29 from 11am to 1.30pm. If you are interested or want more information please contact Sharon on 82250220.

Omagh Comhaltas Class

REGISTRATION for the Comhaltas class will take place tonight (Thursday) in St Joseph's Hall from 6-7pm. The music class will resume after registration from 7-8pm.

Tuition in whistle, fiddle, banjo and mandolin by tutors Aishling Campbell and Nuala McBride. Fee for 12 week course £30. Tuition fees payable in advance. Family discount available for three or more family members. Comhaltas membership fee - adults £8, children £4, family £14.

Collection for Childrens Homes

WITH regard to the street collection on August 23 the sum of £901 was raised for Wyresdale Childrens' Homes in India and Nepal.

Many thanks to all those people who donated so generously and a special thanks to the wonderful people who collected for this worthy cause.

St Joseph's Ladies Club

CYNTHIA Hamilton of Hilltop Health will give a talk entitled 'Total Well Being' in St Joseph's Hall, Omagh on Wednesday, September 19 at 8.15pm. Admission £2 including supper.
