Bogle's boot seals victory

Derrylaughan 2-6
Urney 1-11

TWO injury time points from the boot of Chris Bogle secured Urney a hard earned win from their lengthy trip to Derrylaughan. The Kevin Barrys shaded the issue in the first half thanks to the scoring exploits of Brendan Quinn who hit 1-4, Ciaran Gervin and Fergal McAliskey also on target for the hosts.

Urney had enjoyed a terrific start to the contest with Johnny Lafferty contributing a couple of points and PJ McMenamin bagging a goal but they then lost their way. Scores proved difficult to come by in the second period but Fergal McNulty levelled matters before the same player put the visitors in front.

Lafferty and Bogle then added to the St.Columba's tally and they seemed set for victory until Quinn levelled matters from the penalty spot after he was fouled himself. A stalemate looked the likely outcome now but Bogle had other ideas as Urney broke their duck at the third time of asking.

Late Devine goal key

Dungannon 2-5
Clann na nGael 1-13

BASED on the displays of both of these sides in their opening two games the visitors were strongly fancied to win with a bit to spare but it didn't transpire that way and it took an injury time Peter Devine goal to end the dogged challenge of the Clarkes. Wind assisted Clann na nGael controlled the opening half with Gareth McDermott (5), Dominic Devine, Adrian Ball and Stephen Kerlin getting points but they missed at least three gilt edge goal opportunities.

Six minutes into the second half Dungannon were back in the game when full forward Paul Coulter finished to the net after a Noel Burns' effort had come back off the post. McDermott, Brian Dooher and Paul Gormley responded with points for the visitors but when JJ Devlin found the net for the hosts the deficit was trimmed to the minimum. The visitors though held their nerve and McDermott's seventh point of the contest proceeded Devine's late major

Reds on a roll

Edendork 0-9
Trillick 1-11

TRILLICK laid the foundations for their second win in a row with a first half performance that saw them establish an eight point lead at the interval away to Edendork. Niall Gormley kicked four points from play in the opening ten minutes of the game before Gary McCurry responded with a couple of Edendork frees.

Midfielder Proinsias O'Kane then weighed in with a couple of points for the St.Macartans before Gormley took his first half tally to 1-6 with a well taken goal on the stroke of half-time. Trillick managed only three points in the second half through Mattie Donnelly [2] and substitute Malachy McElholm but it still proved to be sufficient against an Edendork side who had scores from John McGuckin, David O'Donnell and Emmett Stringer and who showed a good improvement from their opening two games.

Determined Emmetts

Eskra 0-16
Tattyreagh 1-8

TATTYREAGH made the short trip to Eskra in confident mood following two opening wins in their campaign but on the day they came up against a determined Emmetts side who were eager to get their season up and running after losing at home to Rock in their first outing.

The visitors made a good start with points from Barry Montgomery and Kevin Gallagher as well as a Conor Taggart goal but they were to add just another point in the remaining twenty three minutes of the half as Eskra took control. Cathal McNamee (3), Ryan Gartland (4) and Cormac Arkinson (2) were all on target as the hosts turned around 0-11 to 1-3 to the good.

Gartland traded scores with Martin Harkin and Montgomery on the restart before Taggart and Colin Harkin reduced the gap but Eskra always had the upper hand with McNamee and Gartland taking their combined tally to eleven with late scores apiece

'Castle on top

Greencastle 1-9
Rock 1-7

GREENCASTLE came out on top in this clash of the St.Patricks between two sides that have left their mark on the junior grade over the past two seasons. Rock were out of the traps in lightning fashion with Martin McCreesh notching three points and Aidan Gervin also on target before a hopeful ball in ended up in the Greencastle net after Rock full forward James McCreesh and keeper Collie Tuohy contested it.

The visitors failed to score for the rest of the half though as Greencastle hit back to get on level terms by the break thanks to points from Shane Coyle and Kevin Ferrity and a Barry McNulty goal. In the second half Martin McCreesh and Coyle had two points each for their respective sides and with two minutes to play the sides were still level. Coyle then edged the hosts in front from a placed ball before midfielder Enda Clarke sealed their first win of the season with a brilliant point from fully fifty metres out

Harps are held

Gortin 0-12
Stewartstown 0-12

GORTIN are still looking for their first home win of the season after Stewartstown maintained their unbeaten start thanks to a last gasp equaliser from midfielder Paul Dillon in a contest that saw three players sent off in the second half. Shane Clarke and Brian McGarvey were among the Gortin points in the first half but it was the Harps who led at the turn over after Peter Armour, Owen Coyle and Gareth Devlin had all scored a brace each, the latter also missing a penalty.

In the second half Gortin's Pete O'Neill (double yellow) and Cathal McCrory (red) and Stewartstown's Ryan O'Neill (red) were sent off as both sides traded scores with Armour and Diarmuid McNulty supplying three points each for their respective sides. Peter Clarke then put the hosts ahead with time running out before that late Dillon effort salvaged the Harps a draw.

Pomeroy good value

Killeeshil 2-6
Pomeroy 1-16

SOMETHING had to give here in this clash of two unbeaten sides in the Intermediate grade and it was Pomeroy who were full value for their win to maintain their one hundred percent start to the new season. The home side managed only three scores in the first half but two of those were goals from Jim McMullan and Paul Daly. Yet it was the Plunketts who led at the midway stage thanks to points from Ollie McCreesh, Justin McCaffrey and Brendan Cunningham and a last minute Stephen McKenna goal.

It was point for point on the resumption with Ciaran Slane and Christopher Colhoun on target for Pomeroy with Gary Reilly and Jonathan Cunningham responding for Killeeshil before the visitors made the crucial burst with four scores in as many minutes from McCaffrey, McCreesh and McKenna to seal victory.

County quartet central

Moortown 2-7
Moy 2-15

MOORTOWN'S unbeaten start to the season came to an end at the Loughshore on Sunday as Moy picked up their first points of the season with their county quartet central to their winning, amassing 1-15 of their tally between them. Moortown couldn't have wished for a better start when a hopeful ball in from Dwaine McVey slipped through the hands of Moy keeper Ryan Kelly and into the net. Moy hit back though with a run of 1-6 with Colm Cavanagh getting a couple and a couple of points and Ryan Mellon splitting the posts on four occasions.

Michael Hagan then got a Moortown goal against the run of play but efforts from Sean Cavanagh and Philip Jordan ensured the visitors led at the short whistle. The opening twenty minutes of the second half was all Moy. Mellon, Jordan and Sean Cavanagh all tagged on points with Ryan O'Neill scoring a 48th minute goal.

Colum Campbell had a couple of late points for the St.Malachys but to no avail.
