Dromore power back in style

Dromore 1-14
Killyclogher 0-7

KILLYCLOGHER played well in the first half but after the break the county champions took over as they restricted the visitors to just a single point on their way to a fifth straight victory.

The St.Dympna's looked like establishing a match winning lead in the opening quarter with Shane McMahon, Barry Collins and Colm McCullagh among the points as they led 0-7 to 0-2 but Simon O'Neill's third point of the game coupled with a Gary Martin brace left everything to play for in the second half.

Any thoughts that the St.Mary's had of taking anything from their travels were quickly dispersed however as McCullagh took his personal haul to five and McMahon to three before Montague sealed the win with an injury time goal as the St.Dympna's remain joint top of the Division One table.

Late Kildress surge

Eglish 2-6
Kildress 1-12

KILDRESS hit the last half a dozen points of this game to turn a three point deficit into a win by the same margin as they finally overcame a determined Eglish side that are still looking to break their duck since their return to senior football. Des Treacy was in sparkling form for the Wolfe Tones and a couple of early points from his boot coupled with a fine effort from half back Martin Loughran gave the visitors the early advantage.

The game then really livened up when Dwyer Jordan and Treacy scored goals for their respective sides within a minute of each other. As the interval approached Emmett McKenna took centre stage for the hosts with a goal and two points as his side held a narrow lead at the break. Within a couple of minutes of the restart Martin McCann had increased Eglish's lead but they failed to score again as Kildress hit back with four Treacy points and one from Frank McGurk to make sure of victory.

Fianna fightback

Coalisland 1-15
Aghyaran 1-15

COALISLAND looked to be dead and buried at home to Aghyaran as the St.Davogs led by five points with time almost up but the hosts staged a remarkable fight back to earn a share of the spoils and therefore deny the visitors their first triumph of the season. Coalisland raced into an early six point lead with Niall Fox, Brian Toner and Paddy McNeice among their points but four Martin Penrose scores and one from centre half back Shane Sweeney kept Aghyaran in contention at the interval.

The second half was only seven minutes old when Aidan Connolly fired in a goal for the visitors and with Penrose taking his personal haul to an impressive ten points and Anthony Devine weighing in with a couple they looked to be on their way to victory. Coalisland though refused to throw in the towel and Plunkett Kane grabbed a 58th minute goal to give them renewed hope before a brace of McNeice frees got them a draw

Three see red

Errigal Ciaran 2-19
Galbally 1-8

THREE players received their marching orders at Dunmoyle on Sunday but that wasn't in keeping with a game that saw Errigal Ciaran emerge convincing winners over an out of sorts Galbally side. The hosts had the opening six points of the game with Ronan McRory, Damian McDermott and midfielder Enda McGinley on target before Paul Rafferty opened the Pearses' account.

At the start of the second quarter McDermott smashed home a well taken goal but was then the recipient of a straight red card a few minutes later. Blaine Nugent and Declan Murphy had Galbally points but a couple of Adrian O'Donnell scores left the hosts well in control at the break, 1-10 to 0-5 in front. On the restart Barry Canavan and Murphy exchanged points before Fergal O'Donnell hit a free straight to the Errigal Ciaran net.

The visitors then had defenders Colm Rafferty and Conor McCrory sent off for second yellow card offences as Errigal closed the game out with points from O'Donnell and Mark Loughran and a McRory goal.

Carmen lay first half platform

Carrickmore 0-13
Omagh 0-8

OMAGH scored only two points in the first half while Carrickmore could only match that tally after the break but it was the St.Colmcille's first half performance that laid the foundations for this victory. Kevin McNally converted five first half frees with Mark Donnelly hitting a brace from play as the hosts established a 0-11 to 0-2 lead and that was after Conor O'Donnell had put the St.Enda's in front.

Jason McAnulla and McNally traded scores on the restart before Carrickmore were reduced to fourteen men when Gabriel McCallan was red carded. Cathal McCarron reduced the deficit with a couple of frees but then the visitors had their numbers reduced when Gary Taggart was red carded by match official Paul Martin. McCarron chalked up another three points for the visitors but it was a case of too little too late as Barry Daly concluded the scoring for the league leaders.

Still pointless

Donaghmore 1-15
Killyman 0-9

KILLYMAN are still chasing their first points of the season after they were unable to sustain a great start to this contest at Donaghmore. Paul McVeigh, Conor Boyle and Eddie Holland all notched points for the visitors in the opening quarter but they failed to score for the remainder of the half.

Donaghmore gradually began to get into their stride thanks to a couple of Niall McCaul points but it was Killyman who still led 0-5 to 0-4 at half time. By the time Paul McVeigh got the visitors' first point of the second period the game was already slipping away from them as Donaghmore hit 1-5 without reply with Shane Mulgrew and Gary Hetherington among the points and McCaul getting the only goal of the game.

Conor Boyle and John McShane traded points with Kelvin Hughes and Mulgrew but the home side emerged comfortable double scores winners despite having McCaul sent off for a second yellow card offence in injury time
