nmdth-Mayor to meet Minister

Mayor to Meet Minister of Regional Development

THE Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Barry Monteith and Council's four Party leaders will meet with Conor Murphy (MP MLA) Minister for Regional Development, on Wednesday to discuss the possible removal of a telecommunications mast on the historic site of Castle Hill.

The topography of Castle Hill allows panoramic views over and beyond NI and this made it suitable as the site for an emergency telecommunications mast. However, with recent developments on Castle Hill and the plans to make it a public site, the council is keen to have the mast relocated.

Cllr Barry Monteith said, "Although we have experts assess the site and they have confirmed there are no health implications, in order to make the most of the site as a public venue, Council feels it is necessary to discuss its possible relocation. I take great pleasure in welcoming the Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy MP MLA to Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council and will be delighted to accompany him to the O'Neill Castle site. As with all Ministers, the Council looks forward to developing a strong and mutually beneficial working relationship with Mr Murphy. I have no doubt that forging such relations can only serve to the benefit of all the citizens of our Borough."

Also on the agenda on Wednesday is the Moygashel Wastewater Treatment Works which Council believes needs major capital investment. Although the site is planned for redevelopment in a few years time, Council hopes to push its enhancement higher on the agenda.
