Years after his death, critics and fans continue to write and discuss at length Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis's music, possible motivations and inspirations. News of his suicide in 1980 spurred many rumours, further accelerating interest in his work and troubled life.
This interest continues today as a profile of Curtis's life has been made into a film entitled 'Control,' depicting this enigmatic singers personal, professional and romantic troubles that led him to commit suicide at the age of 23.

Critics have described this portrayal of troubled singer Ian Curtis as 'spectacular' and 'outstanding'. It received a standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival last year.
The film expands on Deborah Curtis's Touching From A Distance book, which was a personal account of her life with him, to give a fuller account of the man and his life.
