A MAN who was on bail on a number of serious charges may have suffered some form of 'breakdown' according to a barrister acting for him, and that may explain his recent disappearance and failure to attend court.
Mark Lynch whose address was given as Flat 3, 39 Hospital Road, Omagh, was to have answered bail at the Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning on several charges.
WORRIED
However, his barrister advised that he had disappeared and that his family and police are currently looking for him. His barrister, instructed by Barry Fox and Co. Solicitors, said that the defendant's family was increasingly worried about him.
RM Greg McCourt noted that the defendant was in breach of bail, whatever the reason, and a public prosecutor advised that because of the serious nature of charges against the defendant, a bench warrant would be sought for his arrest.
The defendant, who was granted bail on May 29 is charged with disorderly behaviour at Main Street, Drumquin, relating to an alleged incident on May 10.
RESISTING
He is also charged with resisting police, and with two charges of assault on two females and unlawfully and injuriously imprisoning them against their will. He is further charged with making threats to kill five members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland on the same date, and with making threats to kill a female. Lynch is also charged that on May 10 he attempted to destroy or damage the front bonnet of a police car.
It is understood that the defendant was on his own bail of £500 at the time of his disappearance.
