On June 21, I carried out my rural postal deliver on a bicycle in Dromore. This was in order to collect sponsorship for the 'Keep Baby Katie Awake Fund'. Katie is my cousin and she is Gary McCann's baby girl from Omagh.
Katie has intractable epilepsy and needs urgent treatment in America to survive. So far over £5,000 has been raised and I want to take this opportunity to thank the people of Dromore for their outstanding generosity and good wishes.
Thanks also to my colleagues in Dromore and various other post offices for their support and donations. Numerous people have kindly collected in their own business and some are organising events, which is fantastic.
The annual barbeque for the Omagh Sorting Office on Sunday, July 13, is donating all money from ticket sales to the fund. Other events are being advertised in the local media in the forthcoming weeks.
You can keep up to date with the fund at www.keepbabykatieawake.com or please send cheques to 'Keep Baby Katie Awake', 24 Sandybraes, Magherafelt BT45 6PN.
