Thank you for highlighting in last week's edition (UH, July 10) the fact that, 14 years ago, a 15-year-old child was made pregnant by a known sexual predator Arthur McElhill. You raised questions: Where was the investigation? Where were the social workers? These are all questions we, the public, are asking as well.
How can all this be unaccountable?
Is it not true that this man was on a suspended jail sentence at the time he made this 15-year-old child pregnant? And is it not true that his suspended jail sentence was in relation to sexual offences towards teenage girls? You may well ask these questions, but I doubt you will get honest answers.
This man seems to have been protected by the services throughout the years, unlike his innocent children and all the unnamed victims of his sexual abuse.
As you so rightly stated, tragedies like Lammy do not just come out of the blue. The evidence was there, but no one bothered to look.
