The Fermanagh RSPB season ends on Saturday, 3rd May, the highlight of the day being the annual and enjoyable Dawn Chorus at Castle Archdale.
Members are asked to meet in the courtyard at 5am for a 'getting to know' guided tour in the company of three RSPB wardens who will be on hand to help identify the songsters. At the end of the walk, the group will repair to the Lough Erne Hotel for a hearty breakfast.
Before that, on Thursday, 24th April, the Society's final slide lecture will take place. This should prove to be a very interesting and entertaining evening. The talk, 'The Irish Whooper Swan project', will be given by John McCullagh and will describe the work that's being done in Fermanagh to protect these visitors to our shores.
25 years of Little Smarties
Little Smarties Playgroup in Garrison will celebrate it's 25th Anniversary with music and dance in Gilroy's Bar on Saturday 28th April.
All past and present staff, committee members and former pupils are invited to join in this celebration down memory lane.
Music will be provided by DJ Colm McCafferty.
Cancer Dance
A charity dance in aid of the Clinical Cancer Laboratry based at new Cancer Centre in Belfast will take place in the Hotel Carlton, Belleek this Friday night, 18th April.
Tickets are priced at £7 and all proceeds from the fund-raiser will remain in Northern Ireland.
Dancing to Paul and Bernie will commence at 10.00pm.
Irish Dancing
Ard Rialla School of Irish Dancing will commence classes in the Don Carragh Hotel in Lisnaskea on Monday 21st of April 2008. Classes will begin @ 5.30pm.
Raynauds and Sceleroderms
The Raynauds and Sceleroderms Group Northern Ireland will host a meeting in the Royal Hotel, Cookstown on Saturday 19th April at 11.00am.
The topic will be 'Helping to make life easier for patients'. Speaker Helen Brady, an O.T. highly experienced in rheumatological disease. There will be opportunity for questions and answers on the day and there will be plenty of information available.
Shanmullagh closure
The Minister for Education has confirmed the closure of Shanmullagh Primary School.
The School will officially close on the 31 August 2008.
Minister Caitriona Ruane acknowledged the school's enrolments have been declining for some years and that only 24 children are enrolled in 2007/08.
As a result the School's Board of Governors have accepted the necessity of closure.
Commenting on the proposal, Ms Ruane said that the decision was in the best interests of the pupils.
She said: "A decision to close a small rural school that has served the community for many years is never an easy one.
"I believe, however, that the decision is in the best educational interests of the children. They will have the opportunity to benefit from a broader educational experience provided by one of the neighbouring schools in the area."
Ceili News
There is a Ceili Dancing Workshop and mini ceili in Augher on Sunday next, 20th April, starting at 7.30 pm. These workshops will give those attending an opportunity of learning some new dances and will also be most helpful to beginners.

Gates stolen
Police are appealing for information after four wooden gates, worth £200 each, were stolen from Manoo Road, Kesh sometime during the night of Thursday 10th- Friday 11th APril.
In a separate incident, Police are appealing for information after a 11x 5 ft wooden gate worth £250 was stolen from Rossfad Road, Ballinamallard. The gate believed to be stolen sometime between 9.00pm on Thursday, 10th and 7.00am on Friday, 11th April. It carries the nameplate 'Sam Crothers of Lisbellaw'.
