Clogher man goes to trial


Following the holding of a preliminary enquiry in to his case, a Clogher man who is currently in custody on separate charges, was returned for trial at the Crown Court on a charge of driving while disqualified.

William Hamilton of McCrea Park, consented to the holding of a preliminary enquiry at Omagh Magistrate's Court. He stands accused of driving while disqualified as Ashfield Gardens in August last year.

At the hearing, he declined to call witnesses, give evidence, or make statements on his own behalf at this juncture of the proceedings. A public prosecutor said that based on the papers she believed that there was a prima facia case to answer. The defendant denies the charge.

The Resident Magistrate, Greg McCourt returned the accused for trial to Enniskillen Crown Court on 20 May. He approved certification for one defence counsel.
