Edward McManus,
Roslea and Leitrim

The death took place in Sligo General Hospital recently of the late Edward McManus.

Edward was born on 19th September, 1926, the eldest child and only son of Andrew and Mary McManus, Ervey, Roslea. He grew up on the family farm and attended Derryneese Primary School.

After leaving school, he helped his uncle James on his farm at Cornamurvey, Roslea, before leaving Ireland to make a life for himself in Luton, England. There he joined Vauxhall Car Manufacturers and continued work there until he retired 25 years later.

It was always his wish to return to Ireland and, when his nephews visited and asked him to return, he happily agreed. He returned to live in Kinlough, Co. Leitrim with his sister, Margaret, until he finally found himself a house at Edenville. There he remained until his short final illness.

His remains were removed from Sligo General Hospital to the Sheil Hospital, Ballyshannon where he remained in repose until the morning of his funeral.

His remains were received into St. Aidan's Church, Kinlough by Fr. Thomas Keogan. The liturgical duties were carried out by family members.

Edward is survived by his sister, Margaret (James) Kinlough and by nieces, nephews and large family circle. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sisters, Kathleen and Mary Brigid.
