Teenagers everywhere must be delighted to hear that this week sees the release of 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year'.
Although this is the third movie in the 'High School Musical' series (hence the clever name HSM3) it is actually the first of the movies to be given a full cinema release as the first two were released firstly on the Disney channel and then through DVD release.
With the main protagonists now in their senior year lets hope this is the last musical East High puts on.
Like something you would expect from Disney, all the kids at East High are beautiful, clean-cut, good living and very talented.
They can sing, they can dance and no-one falls off the stage. Carlsberg don't do school musicals but if they did bla bla bla...
As they approach graduation Troy (Zac Efron) has a difficult decision to make. Is he going to play sport or is he going to sing and dance with his girlfriend Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens)? Tough call Zach but I think we all know what he's going to decide, don't we? Otherwise the film would be called something like 'High School Basketball Match'.
Everything at East High is wonderful. The sun always shines; the kids all have good teeth and everyone seems to love going to school so much that they spend a disproportionate length of time singing rather than speaking.
A large part of the film is taken up with the rehearsals for the school musical while the last half hour of so is given over to the musical itself.
Due to unfortunate circumstances (I didn't want to go) I was unable to see 'High School Musical 3' yet but as many teenagers have already seen it several times I don't think anyone at the local cinema will have missed me.
Suffice to say 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' is a polished piece of entertainment which will be a success of meteoric proportions.
What is of much more interest to this columnist is the imminent arrival of the latest James Bond adventure 'Quantum of Solace' which gets its world-wide release this Friday, 31st October.
If 'HSM3' doesn't quite sound like your cup of tea i.e. you are over 15 years of age, your time this week would be much better spent digging out your DVD copy of the last Bond film 'Casino Royale' and getting yourself up to date with the story of that particular picture.
The reason for this is 'Quantum of Solace', for the first time in Bond history, is a sequel and the action picks up a matter of hours after Bond watched his double-crossing girlfriend Vespa sink to a watery grave in Venice.
'Casino Royale' was Daniel Craig's first outing as English secret agent 007 and the movie effectively re-invented the Bond franchise with an edgier style of movie featuring more realistic violence, less gadgets and was much less tongue-in-cheek than what had gone before.
Bond is grieving for his lover and wants revenge.
Early trailers look fantastic and, no doubt, the film will deliver on the promises of these early glimpses of the action. Apparently 12 Aston Martin cars were destroyed in the making of the film so expect a few car chases.
'Quantum of Solace' opens this Friday, 31st October, so if you're not a High School fan you only have to wait a few days for Mr Bond.
