Failing to give the name and address of the driver of a car which police found damaged in Enniskillen is the charge that a Garrison man faced when he recently appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
Eighteen year old Seamus Edward Patrick McKeaney, from Glen West in Garrison was fined £250 for the offence.
The court heard, in evidence, that on 26th June last year police on mobile patrol in Enniskillen came across a damaged vehicle parked at Cherrymount roundabout in the town.
Insurance documents in the car identified the defendant was the owner of the vehicle.
Police went looking for the defendant and located him at a relative's home. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The defendant gave his insurance details but he wouldn't say who was driving the car that night.
District Judge Liam McNally said this was a serious offence in that an accident occurred and because of the silence of the defendant police have been unable to investigate the crash further, or to take the matter any further.
As the only sanction for this offence is a monetary penalty a fine of £250 was imposed.
