No insurance for newly acquired vehicle

A Maguiresbridge motorist who had only purchased his car a few weeks previously and hadn't yet got the vehicle insured has appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court charged with driving without insurance.

Christopher McCusker (19) from Parkhill, Maguiresbridge was stopped by police driving a Vauxhall Astra along the Lisnagole Road, Lisnaskea on 30th July last year.

When asked for his driving documents he told police he only had the car for three weeks.

He was asked to produce his driving documents which he failed to do.

On a later date police spotted the defendant walking at Boyhill Road but he ran off before they could talk to him.

For no insurance the defendant was fined £500 and disqualified from driving for 18 months.

For driving without a licence he was fined £200 and disqualified for 18 months.
