ENNISKILLEN TOWN COLTS ..........1
BALLINAMALLARD YOUTH 'A '.......2
The Ballinamallard A team secured the BKYL under 13 league title last Thursday evening in a tense and hard fought contest against a well organised and hard working Enniskillen Town team. With a strong wind blowing across the pitch it was not the best football from either side and control of the ball was often poor however there was plenty of excitement and chances from both sides. From the kick off it was clear Town were out to upset the league contenders and prevent them playing their normal passing game. The first few chances came from the right with Mallard's Rory Flynn getting some dangerous crosses over but these were well defended by Oisin Corrigan.
Ballinamallard took the lead on 20 minutes when Flynn collected the ball in the centre of the park and released a fantastic high drive from 25 yards out which looped over the keeper. More edgy football was on display in the second half and none more so when 12 minutes in Town's Conor Watson reacted quickly to beat the keeper to a loose ball just inside the penalty area and equalise. This set the game for a final 20 minutes of end to end football with both teams coming close on a number of occasions but it was Mallard's Jake Smith who stole the show with a fine individual run
on goal and with three players supporting him side footed past the advancing keeper.
Kesh battle hard to earn draw
NFC KESH ...............................1
BALLINAMALLARD 'A' ...............1
A pulsating match at Mantlin Park on Friday evening ended all square, as the hosts yet again showed tremendous fight to earn a much deserved draw against the newly crowned champions.
In a frantic opening to the game either side could have taken the lead; the best chance in the early stages falling to Liam Maguire of Kesh, who looked in a promising position inside the Ballinamallard penalty area, only for the ball to fall out of reach at the last minute. Minutes later Kesh had another opportunity to open the scoring; Gareth Keys picked the ball up on the half-way line, and wove his way through the away defence, only for his shot from 15 yards to narrowly sail over the bar. Ballinamallard played some good football, but this was to no avail in the first half.
. The away side's best opportunity came five minutes from the break, as the Ballinamallard striker seemingly looked one-on-one with Lee Corry in the Kesh goal, only for Corry to push the striker wide, and the following attempt from the acute angle was cleared by Darragh McAlone.
The second half began as the first half had finished; both teams playing some brilliant football, in what was undoubtedly one of the games of the season. In the next five minutes however, the away side began to take a stranglehold of the game, and their breakthrough came ten minutes into the half. The tricky left winger evaded two challenges, and his looping cross was headed in at the back post for by substitute Rory Flynn 1-0.
Minutes later Louis Hopkins was felled in the penaltyarea, but the referee waved play on.
Soon after, both sides made substitutions in search for the all-important next goal. NFC Kesh pushed hard for an equalizer as time was running out. With the referee signalling for three minutes additional time it was time for one last push. Newly-introduced Ryan Dunlop played in Mark McCauley, and his shot from the edge of the penalty area crashed off the cross-bar, only for the ball to drop to the head of Gareth Keys, who placed his header past the stranded keeper to equalize for the home side and cap-off a magnificent man of the match display.
Youths have it in hand
BALLINAMALLARD U15S ............5
DERGVIEW.................................1
Ballinamallard romped to a 5 1 victory with Johnny Hoy scoring all five in a fine individual performance. His opener on 15 minutes came after a Chris Sheridan flick which left him one on one with the keeper and he coolly slipped the ball low into the net. The second, ten minutes later came from the penalty spot after hand ball. The Mallards adapted better to the windy conditions with Ruairi Corrigan and Andrew Farrell in defence rarely troubled. John Currie and Lee Walker both tested the keeper but the Mallards couldn't add to the 2 0 half time score.
The second half continued in the same vein and Hoy completed his hat trick when he received a through ball from Corrigan, beat the last defender and hammered in past the diving keeper. James Turley and Lee Walker both brought good saves from the keeper but with 15 minutes remaining Hoy scored his fourth. He latched onto another through ball, this time from Niall Wallace and his powerful shot was too much for the keeper.
With five minutes remaining Clive Crompton pulled one back for Dergview with a well executed overhead kick which gave Andrew Nevin no chance. Immediately from the kick off Hoy gathered the ball in midfield, drove forward and finished off the scoring with a trademark 25 yard drive to leave the final score 5 - 1 to the Mallards.
