Students success at healthy eating competition

For the third year in a row, St. Fanchea's College has fought stiff competition from 130 schools to win a Junior Award in a Healthy Eating Cookery Competition.

Mount Lourdes, a first time entrant, also picked up an award at the fifth annual competition held in Lismullin.

St. Fanchea's pupils Ciara Tummon and Shannon Curry, along with Mount Lourdes students, Blanaid Corrigan and Gemma Gray received certificates. The competition focused on sourcing local healthy food locally with an emphasis on organic growth; planning a two-course meal for four for under 15 euro; cooking and serving it up to the judge for tasting in the kitchen and then in the dining room for their fellow teams to share.
